Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting relations with Colombia in all fields, bringing benefits to both countries.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement while receiving on Feb. 27 the Foreign Minister of Colombia, Maria Angela Holguin, who is on an official visit to Vietnam .
PM Dung praised the results of FM Holguin’s talks with her Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Binh Minh, adding he believed that her visit will contribute to boosting cooperation between Vietnam and Colombia .
The Vietnamese PM expressed his joy at the development of cooperation between the two countries, especially the recent significant increases in trade and investment.
He asked the two countries to sign as soon as possible agreements on economic trade, agriculture, investment, oil and gas, education and training to create a framework for bilateral cooperation.
He welcomed Colombia ’s wish to fortify Latin America-Southeast Asia inter-regional cooperation, and affirmed that Vietnam will play an active role in improving the relationship.
For her part, FM Holguin said that Colombia pays special attention to boosting political, diplomatic, economic, trade, investment, energy, cultural, educational and tourism relations with Vietnam.
She expressed hope for Vietnam ’s support in promoting Latin America-Southeast Asia inter-regional cooperation, especially in financial sector.
Briefing the host on the talks with her Vietnamese counterpart, Foreign Minister Holguin said she wishes that the two countries will strengthen cooperation at international forums to protect their legitimate interest and improve their roles in their respective regions and the world.
She also welcomed a Vietnamese business delegation to attend a forum in Colombia , and asked that Vietnam share experience in poverty reduction with her country.
