The ongoing visit to Viet Nam by Myanmar President Thein Sein would help boost the bilateral relations to new heights, said PM Nguyen Tan Dung while meeting with the guest in Ha Noi on March 20.
PM Dung suggested both should maintain the annual politic consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries and coordinate to accelerate bilateral cooperation in the sub-Mekong region.
The two countries need to speed up the realization of inked programs and agreements, particularly in agriculture, finance, telecommunication and energy.
The Government chief affirmed Viet Nam’s consistent policy of supporting Myanmar to assume the ASEAN Presidency in 2014 and closely coordinating with Myanmar at regional forums.
PM Dung took the occasion to congratulate Myanmar on its recent socio-economic development achievements over the past time.
President Thein Sein noted that the two countries have expanded cooperation to a number of areas, namely economics, trade, security and national defense with positive results recorded.
The President hoped that Viet Nam would share its development experiences with Myanmar.
He also thanked Viet Nam for its support to his country at regional and international forums, pledging to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese investors doing business in Myanmar.
